Our History
Big Bear Country Outfitters was originally founded in 2005 by Steve & Debbie Overguard and their daughter and son in-law, Jason and Jenna Packer. Now in 2024 Jason and Jenna have decided to focus on their farm in Sundre. Jason will still be involved and helping when ever available.
Steve and Debbie have brought in their youngest daughter Jodi and her husband Billy Lobley; to take over partnership in Big Bear Country Outfitters!
Located in Zama City, Alberta; Big bear Country Outfitters operate all allocations in the zone. Making this a very secluded, none competitive hunting trip of a lifetime!
This is also a two bear tag zone, allowing you to harvest not only one amazing trophy, but two if you choose to do so.
Our Experts
Steve has been an outfitter for over 45 years, with not only experience in bears but moose, whitetail, mule deer, sheep, elk and wolves. As well as guiding and hunting himself, before creating his passion into his lively hood.
Steve has been nominated for Outfitter of the year in Alberta multiple times and winning in 2018.
Debbie has been the heart of all Steve's operations. Guiding, cooking and organizing all of their adventures.
While Steve and Debbie brought their children up in a world of hunting Jodi also developed a passion for it. Shooting her first bear at the age of 12 with Big Bear Country Outfitters. Jodi has helped her parents her entire life, being her dads number one helper until turning of age and being able to professionally guide deer, wolf, moose and bear.
Billy also grew up in a very hunting friendly family, shooting his first deer at the age of 12 as well. He's been guiding deer, moose and bears for many years. Over the year's he has developed a passion of guiding and is ecstatic to join the family business.
